La Cazuela de la Esparteria



La Cazuela de la Esparteria (Calle Rodriguez Marín, 16)
• A very nice, casual and central restaurant serving traditional food from Spain and Cordoba.
• They list their specialities as aubergines with salmon (berenjenas con salmon) and artichokes with bull’s tail (alcachofas con rabo de todo) but the scrambled egg dishes (revueltos) are also really delicious.

La Boca (Paseo de la Ribera, 24)
• A small, modern restaurant on the river.
• Does Spanish food with a twist.
• Uses organic produce and has a selection of organic wines.

El Sotano



El Sotano (Plaza de la Corredera)
• A very popular restaurant with a huge terrace.
• Does a variety of Spanish and Andalusian staples.
• Highly recommended dishes include aubergines in honey (berenjenas con miel) and spinach croquettes (croquetas de espinacas)
• Portions can be very large, so it’s often best to order just a few dishes and if you’re still hungry you can always order more!

Taberna La Verdad



Taberna La Verdad (Calle Mendez Pelayo, 1)
• Excellent, really popular, central restaurant.
• Serves Spanish and Andalusian food.
• Recommended dishes include fresh anchovies in vinegar (boquerones en vinagre) and pork fillet in salsa verde (puntos de solomillo en salsa verde)
• Again, the portions are very big.

Taberna El Juramento



Taberna El Juramento (Calle Juramento, 6)
• Central restaurant serving Spanish and Andalusian food.
• The restaurant’s speciality is stuffed peppers (pimientos rellenos)
• Has a lovely interior courtyard.

Frida



Frida (Ronda de Isasa, 6)
• New, authentic Mexican restaurant on the river.
• Serves full meals and Mexican tapas.
• Serves a range of Mexican drinks.

Ayesta



Ayesta (Enrique Romero de Torres, 7)
• Lovely restaurant on the river.
• Serves a wide selection of vegetarian dishes.
• Recommended dishes are their rices, peroles, which serve a minimum of two people and very tasty brownies.

La Pataita de Antonio



La Pataita de Antonio (Calle Barroso, 3)
• Tapas bar with live flamenco shows on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10pm
• Interesting tapas including highly-recommended chocolate croquettes (croquetas de chocolate)

Sociedad de Plateros (Calle Maria Auxiliadora, 25)
• Lovely, traditional restaurant towards the outskirts of the city.
• Serves a range of traditional dishes and has an entire menu of cod dishes, their specialty.
• They also serve their own fino, a pale dry sherry.
